Kemar in the Diamond League

Kemar Bailey-Cole ended the 2012 T&F season with an Olympic gold medal as part of the 4x100m team and a new 100m personal best of 9.97 seconds. His time ranks him 17th fastest in the world overall in 2012 and 7th fastest Jamaican.

Going into the season with a personal best time of 10.28 seconds his first major breakthrough came in the Kingston International in May when he won the ‘A’ race in 10:09 seconds. He further improved to 10.06 secs and 10.00 secs in the semi-final and final of the Jamaican Olympic Trials where he finished 5th.

In Madrid in July KBC posted a time of 9.98 secs to finish 2nd but a wind reading of +3.8 made the time ineligible for the record books. Post Olympics the 20 year old really found his rhythm with wins in Warsaw (10.24), Zurich (10.13) and a personal best equaling 10.00 in Berlin.

In his final race of the season at the IAAF Diamond League meeting in Brussels he held his nerve against a world class field to smash the 10 second barrier legally for the first time with 9.97 secs to finish 4th in a race won by Olympic Champion Usain Bolt.
